Question: Mobile voice has been the principal way our company has used our 2-way radios. I'm learning though that using these type devices for mobile data is growing at a really rapid rate. What can you tell me about this?
Answer: Yes, the use of 2-way radios for mobile data is growing incredibly fast worldwide. The expansion of media-rich content (push-to-talk and 2-way radios over cellular networks, video streaming, and conferencing), mobile messaging, and higher bandwidth (3G and 4G) all combined are placing pressure and greater demands on current IT infrastructures. Application and content providers, as well as mobile network operators, are being taxed quite heavily.
Of course, more traffic translates to more revenue, and businesses are beginning to realize that both existing and potential growth is directly dependent on these systems, and in many cases, because of new applications available through the use of the latest in 2-way radios. Mobile operators and their vendors are seeking out higher-quality systems to prepare for this growth and to replace ad hoc legacy systems that are becoming less efficient.
The introduction of Motorola’s line of MOTOTRBO 2-way radios is is a prime example of how the transfer of mobile data is increasing business opportunities. The faster you can transmit and receive data, the more efficient and competitive you can be. Being more timely and cost effective are two things required for survival in today’s tumultuous economy.
“In order to fulfill all of our commitments to Super Bowl XLII, the Host Committee needed to execute
a variety of initiatives and events in a short timeframe. Having the ability to communicate effectively between staff and our support network in real time was essential to our success. The Motorola MOTOTRBO radio platform gave us the talk capability we needed, and the added feature of text messaging allowed us to communicate even in loud environments. BearCom's support and professionalism enhanced the overall experience by giving us added peace of mind.”
